Project Background

Students at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš follow announcements on the SIP portal. SIP Elfak Bot checks it automatically and posts every new article to a Discord server as a rich embed.

Features

  • Fast async scraping with httpx and selectolax, a Rust-based HTML parser
  • Rich Discord embeds with the article title, link, formatted content, category, date and image
  • Deduplication by URL, title and content, tracked in a state file
  • Smart first run that doesn't flood the channel with old posts
  • Chronological posting with accurate timestamps parsed from Serbian (Cyrillic) dates
